Terms & Conditions

  • The payment for the Fall 2024 term shall not be entitled to any deduction for my child’s absences/early pickup during the term; and that in the event of my child’s withdrawal from 87 Afterschool, I have read and agree to the terms of the 87 Afterschool’s Refund Policy.

    • REFUND POLICY:

      • Partial refunds are available from the time of registration until the Friday of the second week of the semester. If you wish to drop a class, you will receive a partial refund on tuition paid with written requests received by the 87 Afterschool office, according to the following schedule:

      • 90% tuition refund with written notice received by Friday, September 6th, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

      • 75% tuition refund with written notice received between September 6th, 2024, at 5:01 p.m. and Friday, September 13th, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

      • 50% tuition refund with written notice received by Friday, September 13th, 2024, at 5:01 p.m. and Friday, September 20th, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

      • After Friday, September 20th, 2024, at 5:01 p.m., REFUNDS WILL NOT BE GRANTED.

      • Registration and processing fees are non-refundable. This includes, but is not limited to: Registration, registration system, supplemental, & drop-in fees

      • Credits for any unused classes will not be issued under any circumstances.

      • There are no full refunds at any time.

  • Refunds for participants on payment plans: If you wish to cancel a class or withdraw completely, your payment plan will be updated to reflect any refunds. Those who are not entitled to a refund will not have their payment plan cancelled or altered.

    • If a payment is declined on a payment plan for a participant that has cancelled a session or withdrawn completely, they will not be allowed to participate in future afterschool sessions until the balance is paid in full.

  • Families will be entitled to a $250 Full Week discount only when all 5 days are booked and paid for at the same time from one account. The discount is automatically applied if the correct conditions are met. If it is not applied automatically, you are not eligible for the discount. You will not be entitled to a discount if:

    • You book classes for one child using two different accounts. For example, Adult A books classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and Adult B books classes on Thursday and Friday.

    • You are waitlisted for a class or multiple classes upon your initial registration and get off the waitlist later. For example, you had classes for Monday through Friday in your cart but were waitlisted for the Friday class. If you are then offered and pay for the Friday spot, the discount will not apply.

    • If you booked any number of classes initially and then decide to make it 5 days, the discount will not apply.

  • Switching classes:

    • If a student is unhappy with a class and wishes to transfer to another class, we will make every effort to accommodate you. Switching classes is dependent on availability and cannot be guaranteed.

    • If transferring to another class on a different day, parents will be responsible to pay for the cost difference if the cost of the new session is higher than the old one, including additional supplemental fees. If it is lower, the balance will be credited to the parent.

    • If transferring sessions from a class with a supplemental fee to a class without a supplemental fee, the supplemental fee will not be refunded. These fees are paid to vendors and/or used to buy materials.

    • There is a $30 transfer fee for each transaction.

  • Late registration refund policy: If you wish to drop a class within the first two weeks of late registration after the initial registration period, you will receive a refund (less non-refundable registration and processing fees) on the cost of tuition, with written requests received by the 87 Afterschool office, according to the following schedule:

    • 75% tuition refund with written notice within 7 days of the registration date, at 5:00 p.m.

    • 50% tuition refund between 8 and 14 days of the registration date, at 5:00 p.m.

    • Refunds will not be granted after 5:00 p.m. on the 14th day following the registration date.

  • 87 Afterschool cannot issue refunds for any class/session not attended or not held due to half-day or full-day closures by the NYC Department of Education.

  • If applying for reduced-rate tuition, eligibility must be verified with appropriate documentation; if eligibility requirements are not met, full-rate class fee(s) and all associated fees must be paid to the 87 Afterschool Program.

  • 87 Afterschool requires my child to meet certain standards of behavior and that if my child fails to behave or demonstrates repeated unsatisfactory conduct, 87 Afterschool has the right to transfer my child to another class, or terminate my child’s participation from 87 Afterschool, without refund or credit for unused sessions (see Participant Code of Conduct).

  • If my child (or children) is not picked up by 6:00 p.m., I agree to pay late fees of $5.00 per minute (per child) according to 87 Afterschool policy, and that my child may be taken to the NYC Police Department’s 20th Precinct in the event no one is available to pick up my child after 6:30 p.m.

    • Please notify us via the lobby cell phone at 929-384-9346 if your pick-up person is running late.

  • If my child is injured and requires medical attention and I cannot be reached for instructions, I do hereby give authority to 87 Afterschool to obtain necessary emergency medical treatment for my child until the family is notified or arrives.

  • I understand that I am required to provide 87 Afterschool with a recent medical form for my child.

    • If I fail to provide a medical form for my child within one month of registration, I understand that my child may be removed from the program, and I will not be entitled to a refund.

    • I do hereby grant 87 Afterschool permission to obtain my child’s health form from PS 87 if I have not provided one to 87 Afterschool. I also grant permission for 87 Afterschool to provide PS 87 with the same health form.

  • There will be no refunds/credits due to program closure due to COVID-19

  • There will be no refunds/credits due to a child missing the program due to individual classroom closure due to COVID-19.

  • There will be no refunds/credits due to a child missing the program due to the child testing positive for COVID-19.

  • If a child’s classroom is closed, or if a child has been directed to quarantine due to close contact or testing positive of COVID-19, they will not be allowed to participate in the program until PS 87 administration deems them safe to return to normal day school activities.

Participant/Family
Code of Conduct

The Participant/Family Code of Conduct is found below and needs to be read, understood, and agreed upon by a parent/guardian to participate in programming. We want all participants to perform and flourish under the programs offered by 87 Afterschool, therefore we ask families to assume accountability and ownership of both their and their child’s behavior. Any participants and/or their families and/or their caregivers found in violation of this conduct code may be removed from a specific class or the program in general.

As a valued participant of 87 Afterschool, my family, my caregiver, and my child will adhere to the following rules:

  1. Show respect to each individual in the program and use appropriate and courteous language at all times.

  2. Refrain from making disparaging comments or remarks, especially in regard to race, social status, nationality, or orientation.

  3. Handle disagreements in the proper way by trusting a staff member and asking them for help before it gets out of hand.

  4. The participant will not be disruptive in class and will behave in a manner that is respectful and conducive to learning and participation.

  5. The participant will keep their hands to themselves at all times.

  6. The participant and/or their family and/or their caregiver will listen to constructive criticism, whether it is given by a student, staff member, or program administration and respect their opinions. Will also be respectful when giving constructive criticism to others.

  7. The participant and/or their family and/or their caregiver will respect PS 87 and 87 Afterschool property.

If I, my caregiver, and/or my child do not follow the rules above, I understand we may give up the opportunity to participate in any or all programs offered by 87 Afterschool, Inc. If we are removed from the program, we will not be eligible to sign up for the program in the future.
